About
Welcome to Oc Oanh, a vibrant seafood haven located at 534 Đ. Vinh Khanh in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Renowned for its eclectic menu rich in local flavors, Oc Oanh stands as a culinary emblem on the bustling Vĩnh Khánh food street. Patrons flock to this establishment not merely for food, but for the authentic experience that comes with dining here.
What truly sets Oc Oanh apart is its dedication to freshness. Many reviews highlight the attention given to cleaning crustaceans meticulously, ensuring that each dish is not only delicious but also safe for consumption. The flavors on offer transport you straight to the heart of Vietnamese cuisine, where each seafood dish is prepared with a unique local twist.
Signature dishes like the sea snails in coconut milk (ốc len xào dừa) and grilled tiger prawns are celebrated for their taste and authenticity. Customers rave about the boiled mussels with lemongrass (chem chép hấp sả) and seafood broken rice porridge, each bite bursting with freshness. It's a place where even the simplest of meals—the humble fried sea crab (càng ghẹ xào muối)—is elevated to a delightful experience.
Nonetheless, the atmosphere at Oc Oanh can be described as chaotic yet convivial, featuring low tables and chairs that invite cozy gatherings. It's not a fine-dining experience, but rather a place that captures the essence of local culture, making it perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in authentic Vietnamese culinary experiences. Expect some challenges with the menu language, as it predominantly includes Vietnamese and Chinese, but don't let that deter you.
While some diners note that the sweetness level in dishes has evolved over the years, many agree that the quality and preparation justify the price. As one satisfied local stated, “This place is on the Michelin Guide for a reason!” The affordability, combined with top-notch seafood, makes Oc Oanh a must-visit for both locals and tourists looking to indulge in a delightful seafood feast.
If you're in Ho Chi Minh City and craving seafood, make your way to Oc Oanh for a flavor-packed journey that promises to charm your palate. With every visit, you’ll not only enjoy a meal but also come away with a piece of the local culture.
“ A very local eatery, and absolutely delicious if you are happy to sit in an environment that is crowded and bustling. Servers are very efficient as they are busy. Some dishes will require you to pay on the spot, like bread or sugarcane juice. The oysters were very fresh and the tamarind crab was a highlight. At the end of your meal, they count your dishes to give you the bill. ”
“ Ốc Oanh is our go-to spot for seafood in HCMC! We live nearby and come here all the time. We’ve tried other places on the same street, like Ốc Loan and Ốc Vũ, but they just don’t hit the same—too pricey and not as tasty. This place is on the Michelin Guide for a reason! The food is always fresh and delicious, and I can’t get enough. If you’re looking for the best ốc in town, this is it! ”
“ Nice customer service, but caters more to the locals. Food was more sugary sweet than a few years ago, which was a slight disappointment. That's why I don't think the current flavor justifies the high price. However, I have to give credit to this restaurant for cleaning the crustaceans very well before cooking them. This is extremely important in preparing seafood, as their shells could contain various bacteria and taste slimy at the touch of your tongue. ”
“ Random chose a stall for seafood and there were locals here so we thought it be quite safe. Food was cheap, fresh and good. We loved the chicken feet, octopus and prawns. Prawns were huge and juicy. Beer selection were heinekin and tiger. No hygiene though. But we didn't get a tummy ache. Kris and Favian Ooi Ho Chi Minh Trip Apr 2025 ”
“ My local friend brought me here for dinner. We had the sea snails in coconut milk (oc len xao dua), boiled mussels with lemongrass (chem chep hap sa), grilled/baked penshell clams with scallion oil (so mai nuong mo hanh), grilled tiger prawns, and seafood broken rice porridge. Everything was fresh and tasty. My friend told me that the salt fried sea crab (cang ghe xao muoi) is nice too, but we were too full to order it. This is a low chair/table, noisy (even chaotic) but convivial, cash / QR code payment only kind of place, but I see that as a quintessential local experience. Note that there's no English in the menu (Vietnamese & Chinese only), and the staff might not be conversant in English. Not exactly cheap, but I guess seafood is costly. ”
“ A long-standing and well-known snail (seafood) restaurant on the vibrant Vĩnh Khánh food street. The dishes are tasty, clean, and suitable for both Vietnamese locals and tourists. While the snails may not be top-grade, the way they’re prepared is solid, and the prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a try. ”
